This is my first cigar box dulcimer. I like it. That pretty neck and fret board wood is poplar, always a popular choice. It plays and sounds pretty good. Tuned GDG using the GBE strings from a guitar. Short scale 23.25 inches.

That is nice build! Maybe you remember my dulcimer from some time behind, I "split" the body to make it look "like" an Appalchian type. Your type is more practical so I shall try to make one. So thanks for the inspiration!
Well I just happened to find a nice three foot section of 1x4 dark poplar the other day. It's nice and straight as well. I also have four niiiice long cohiba boxes I have accumulated and been saving for special projects. Wanted to build a dulcimer since I started this kind of stuff. Amp building isn't working too well for me right now and I need a break from it...Hmmmm... That lap steel I have been promising myself next or the dulcimer... "Floundering in the sea of intellectual uncertainty..."
Thanks, Ray. i am pleased with it too. But nothing special in the build. I just lucked out and found that dark piece of poplar and two nice boxes. I seldom scarf joint the head stock, but do one now and then to show myself I can do it. I think that improved the look too.
Find two good boxes and make one, Ray. Or make your own box.
This is absolutely beautiful, Uncle John! I would love to hear you play anything on it. This is one that I have long wanted to build, but I am not ready for that. Gorgeous what you did with that poplar. Never seen it look quite that good.

I do remember, Bjorn. Thanks!

Thanks, Ambrose and Dave.
This build certainly catches the eye Unc J! Very neat build to incorporate two cigar boxes.
Either one, I wish you fun.

Maybe so, BQ. Thanks, Pick. It's not even a relic.
