I finished CBG #19 and it is sweet. A three stringer, diatonically fretted, on a super box, it seems to play itself. There isn’t a bad note in it. The box is a Drew Estates Chateau Real, Noble Habana 25 pack. The box is 12x6x2-1/8 and the top is one of the thinnest I’ve seen at 3/32”. I positioned the soundholes to compliment the graphics as well as to free up the soundboard to vibrate with less driving force since the box was so narrow (that's my theory and I'm sticking to it). I strung it up and tuned it, and the tone and volume pert near brought tears to my eyes. It is super! I did a French polish garnet shellac on the red oak neck stained Golden Pecan. The fretboard is cherry, bound with curly maple, radiused for playability, and polished with 1500 grit sandpaper and tung oil. The fretmarkers are gold mother of pearl. Nut and bridge are bone, with the bridge on a saddle of cherry. The internal tailpiece and bolt-on neck plate are both brass. The box has a light coat of clear lacquer for protection. This was a custom request, already gone. More pics at:www.huntznsam.com

  • Thanks Huntz !  I'll check out the Stewmac thingee. Now, if you could just cut those slots for me..... ;o)
  • I guess Comments have field length limit....
  • Prof - Thanks.  It is 24.563, a Gibson scale length.  Use the stewmac Fret Position Calculator for  Dulcimer and 24.563"

Put in plenty for number of frets - just stop cutting when you run out of fretboard....;)

  • Sweet, very clean lookin' guitar ! Nice work man.

I was wondering what the length is nut to bridge and if you have dimensions from nut to each fret that you'd be willing to share with us. Well, me in particular...hahaha.

I'd sure appreciate it and I'm guessin' others would too. Thanks, Wally

  • Thanks all.  Yes, I miss this one, but knowing it is spreading CBG joy is consolation..  I need to put another CBG for me in the queue.
  • Must have been hard to part with! That is a real winner.
  • Very nice build.
  • You must have been sad to see the back of that. The fretboard really seems to compliment the box and the three part f holes look great too. Very nice looking instrument.
  • very pretty! that box is sweet
