  I think a fan controller might be better because it's made to control a motor, try to find one that is fully rotational instead of lo med and fast preset speeds.

  You have the ingredients of the Leslie speaker. You can wire the speaker as an extension cabinet for your amp. You may be able to vary the speed of the motor with a ceiling fan speed controller.

  So I am with Tim F. I have an old speaker out of an conn organ with thick foam material on the backside and a rotating cylinder on the other with holes in it and a wedge shaped opening. That might make a nice Leslie amp??
