I hadn't heard of the Woodcraft in Springfield, good to know. You should also check out Dunlap Woodcrafts just south of Dulles Airport. They have some really nice and unusual pieces.
I've got a Woodcraft near me in Rockville but haven't had it over yet. I'm itching to get my hands on a nice piece of 1/4" rosewood to restore a tenor banjo from the '20s or '30s I picked recently. I'm reluctant to buy online...I actually want to see it and hold it first!
Thanks! I agree another local meet up is a great idea. I picked up this piece at Woodcraft in springfield - they have some reasonably priced 1/4" blanks. I have a couple big pieces of walnut that have been standing in the shop a couple years, but I haven't tackled the chore of breaking them down yet. Maybe when it warms up a little more and I can setup outside again...
