A few months ago, a friend, Keith, asked me to build him a Cigar Box banjo. He can't play any instrument at all. He wanted it to "hang on the wall". I guess I could have built it any old way and he wouldn't know the difference... but I would! Any way, it has been a slow process the last few months.
My youngest daughter was pregnant with twins. She only weighs about 90 lbs soaking wet! She was in the hospital for over a month while pregnant and had a C-section at 33 weeks on Sept. 8th. The babies remained in the hospital for over a month after that. The hospital is 25 miles from home and we have spent a lot of time back and forth in the past few months. I say all that to say this... I'm a proud grandpa of identical twin boys!
Anyway, back to the CB banjo... I finally got the banjo with matching amp finished last Saturday. During the build, I came across a free case that had been discarded. I re-cut the foam interior to make the banjo and amp fit. I wonder if Keith will still hang it on the wall! I got some time today after stuffing my self with turkey and such to take some pictures. Here they are...
