  • I do understand what your trying to accomplish...a light weight instrument....just remember to get a great sounding build it needs some sustain and that comes either from a dense neck or on the body. Even adding a metal plate overlay to the peghead will increase the sustain of an instrument.  Check out some builders who use carbon fiber for their instrument bodies...very light weight bodies but they all use dense exotic`s for the neck to get that great sustain which in turn makes an great sounding instrument.

  • You dont understand, Its a hollow body, im not at the point yet where I can permanently attach the two  because the interior is all hollowed out by hand, except for the through neck portion, and i still have to finish sanding the F holes and things before i permanently attach them.

  • I would of used the gorilla glue, it would of sealed against the wood for better acoustic sound transfer and once it`s cured can be shaped easy.

  • no, there is no glue in the pic at all. its just clamped together to get the edges all uniform during shaping

  • Looks like gorilla foam glue

  • its actually deceivingly light because its a hollow body that i had carved the inside out completely except for the through neck portion that goes all the way to the tail. it weighs about 2/3rds the weight of a solid body guitar.

  • Is that all one piece of wood? Looks heavy

  • this is just a SNEAK PEEK of what I am going to unveil soon. :)
