  • I took a quick screen shot of the pin out of this ic to show Dan Sleep.  We have been talking about the possibility of an amp kit with a little more ooumph.  This is just one of many analog amp ic's I've identified.  All come with questions.  So if you would like to join the dialog, please feel free.  This IC would either need a bunch of C size batteries or a power brick.

The typical amp board that people use is set up to work with a 9 volt battery.  I looked at the data sheet and with a 9 volt battery it is really only putting out half a watt at best.  On the plus side it can be run from a 9 volt battery.

The question I have is does it have to be battery powered?  I can find cheap 12volt bricks and then chips that are anywhere from 2.5 watts to 12 watts of out put.  The other part is adding a front end.  I figure a simple overdive fet circuit wouldn't take too much power from a 9 volt with the existing IC that everyone uses.

I can draw up the circuit board and have them made via china pretty cheap. So this is just step one at this point.  I will be ordering parts and breadboarding them on my tech bench to test everything under load for sound and durability.  Once going I will add a blog post on my profile page so check that in about a week.

  • Hi Don,
Do you have a part number and specs for it?

    Cheers,
    Steve
