My first go with adding an image to the build. I enjoy white water canoeing. Not wild about the end result, but I guess I learned a bit. The real disappointment is how bad it sounds ;-[ So much buzz and sitar-twang that I'm afraid it is eye-candy-only. Oak fretboards have been challenging for me.

It looks really neat. Uncle J has given "sound" advice. May I also add the option of higher tuning into the mix. I don't know if your machine heads have screwed in wings, but I had a buzzing issue and found that one needed tighten up.
I like the look and the theme. Reminds me of books I read as a kid. The Walton Boys books.
The guitar look like it would work well. Too bad it sounds bad to you. That happens. I was looking at one of mine that I put extra work and good parts into and yet it still buzzes and disappoints me. I am going to replace a zero fret with a coarse threaded screw and maybe raise the saddle.
I think you should try a coarser threaded and maybe taller saddle. It's hard to tell from the pic, but maybe raising the strings up a bit will cure your buzz. Look at the nut too and be sure the strings are not touching any frets. Good wishes that it ends up a good player.
