  •  Thanks for the vote of confidence, Ambrose! I've built about fifteen fretless and learned how to play three-string on them. Never could play six-string. Not sure I can play a fretted three-string, but anxious to give it a try. When you try it, pretty sure you will, (grins), post a few pics and sound files?

  •  I have a bag of medium and a bag of jumbo frets, the miter box, saw from Gitty, but got two necks already fretted from Gitty to get my feet wet. The next guitar build will be the one I try fretting myself. MIght even start my fretting on a lapsteel. I have a nice piece of iroko 1x24x5.5 inches...

Uncle, That's really cool! I bought this thing about six months ago. I use it mostly to layout scale length and placement of the goodies. It hadn't occurred to me to use the yardstick for that. Thanks!

  • I have a metal yard stick pretty close to the same as yours. It was my dad's. Very good for approximating string height.
  • I'm sure it's going to be a fine looking fretted build.  I haven't yet built a fretless git... I guess it's only a matter of time.
