Found a bit of brass tube when rummaging in the shed, and guess what fell off the end. Would you believe? A couple of slides - one for the third finger and one for the fourth (pinkie).

Hi to both of you. Partly what pleased me about finding this is that it is quite narrow. I have rather thin fingers and the glass bottle neck I have been using on my middle finger flops around a bit. I wanted to try using a slide on my third and fourth fingers (not together of course, although that is an interesting thought). This tubing is only 16mm (5/8") inside diameter so is nice and snug. Feels to give better control, although I'm not sure that it sounds very different.
The only drawback is that the bottleneck has a slight micro-texture (slightly orange peel like) which keeps the strings sounding when doing a long slide up or down the neck. I rather like that and it isn't there to the same extent with these. I did have a go at adding some texture with a wire brush and then going over it with fine steel wool. It worked up to a point but doesn't sound the same.
