The rough box sits below my cello neck. I've cut the seat for the heck heal in my outer shoulder block. It fits nice and tight. I determined the neck angle by clamping up the box with the shoulder and heal in place. I will sand off the extra heal flush with the shoulder block once the glue is set and add a thick cedar block flush glued to the neck.

I should mention the neck is maple. It is factory cut in China. It's a little rough when you get them but very nicely machined. Cheap too. It is strait, flat, ready to glue up after squaring the heal and cutting off excess heal. The ebony finger board is nice too. Chinese also and very affordable. Mechanical tuners will be very expensive. Over $50, but worth it for a cello. Easy tuning. I have a great old K cello tailpiece to use. The body is Western red cedar top, White pine back. Cedar sides, Cedar shoulder and tail. Cedar blocks and cedar kerfing and braces.
