Yes Vick, the well is simply made of a hole cut in the top the same size as the cone so it will slip into the hole. Then i'll build a ledge out of spruce topwood. I'll trace the cone on some scrap spruce and cut out a ring about 1/2 inch beyond and inside of my traced line. This glued in place (after cutting into segments to fit around the bracing that was inside). It will give me a ledge to rest the cone. The cover will fit over the cone and screw into the top wood. The screws will go through both the top wood and my ledge wood. I'll also add posts inside from the bottom to the underside of the ledge wood. About 1x1 mahogany for posts. I'll add mahogany braces under the posts. 6 post will be enough. Two on each side, one at the tail block and one where my sondhole plug is.
Hey Dave, I've got a smaller (ukelele reso kit) from Republic that I've had for some time. Been wanting to build a reso cbg with something besides a dog bowl (lol) - I'm wondering about constructing the sound well. I'm assuming you're dropping that cone into some kind of well, yes?
