It's just a small saw with a blade for metal cutting. I had to remove the "kerf" using a file (= filed it flat, so the teeth do not protrude anymore)
Bought it in a regular "construction market" in Germany, but it's China-made (what isn't nowadays...)
Size? Dunno, after "flattening" it's just a teeny bit under 1mm, so the Goeldo Jumbo-sized frets sit perfectly in the groove.
NIce, I'm liking working more with simple hand tools these days, although I'm not ready to give up my Makita palm sander just yet!
That's true, HC. Especially with pine, (a.k.a. the "patience wood")...
Having a bunch of fancy tools is nice, but not necessary---I have a garage full of power tools, but I can still build the old way---just takes a little longer!!!
Thank you, it's already high tech in comparison with tools Mongolian or Kenyan luthiers use for building their excellent instruments...
