The Hoof nails to frame the body is a nice touch, and if you did the wood burning yourself, I am envious.
  • Me too, on the grand-daughter enjoying it.  Thanks for the story.

If she is a finger chorder, she might like it best strung and tuned DGB.    She could write out some chord forms using just those strings and play right away.  Many folks sing and play in the key of G.   In DGB, open is a G chord.   A C chord is small string fretted above the first fret and the big string fretted above the 2nd fret.  A D7 is the small string fretted above the first fret and the middle string fretted above the second fret.

  • Uncle John, I had a guy I work with who knew I built cbg's ask me to build this for his granddaughter. Yep she is a barrel racer and plays guitar, thus the theme. He gave me a cinch ring that was his dad's that I just couldn't fit into the build. I tried it as a bridge and even as a strap ring. Before dropping the idea I did show him and he agreed the ring was huge and just didn't fit. I hope she enjoys it as it sounds good.

  • Ah yes.  Very nice.   Maybe paint the saddle black......  Oh., horse shoe nails.  Great touch.  Pickup and that particular hinge tail piece are excellent here.   Nice wood burning.   There must be a story here and I am curious to hear it.   Why this neat theme?  Who will it go to?
