here you see the wing nuts and just underneath there are insert nuts recessed into the headstock. The inserts give more support to the thumb screws, but once they are threaded all the way in from the top they turn easily, this is the reason for the wing nuts and lock washers. Middle string would not stay in tune for 5 minutes. Should have found a better way to do the whole tuning thing. Should have drilled holes from the top and attached strings on the bottom.
