Hal. The neck is clear of the front of the box. It's just because of the angle from which the photo was taken that you don't see the gap. That's why there are little blocks near the heal inside the box. Even those don't touch the top.
From the picture, it looks like the through neck is in full contact with the sound board. (No clearancing between neck and board?) Is it glued the full length? If so, is the extra bracing really necessary? Nice carving on the heel, too, BTW.
One thing I didn't say is that there is a block on the end of the neck where the strings come through. This means that the ball ends are very near the back of the box where there are holes to access the strings when changing them, so the box doesn't have to be opened to change strings. It's the first time I have done it this way, but not the last.
