AGP #507 – “XXXX Ghost Pup”3 String Fretless Aluminium Tin Sign Guitar648mm / 25½ inchesStrings : .040NW/.026NW/.018NW/Tuned: A E aThe 300x200mm XXXX Aluminium Sign was an Ebay purchase, the Box Frame is Recycled 90x22mm Treated Pine Decking, the Box Bottom is 3mm Pine Plywood, the Neck is Recycled 90x22mm Treated Pine Decking, the Fretboard and Headstock Wings are Recycled Forest Red Gum, all coated with a Yellow Timber Stain and Clear Acrylic Brush on Gloss Paint.As one of the Pics shows, originally in the Neck position, a Ghosted 18.3k Quad Rail Humbucker was wired through 500k Tone & Vol Pots to the Output Jack, didn’t sound any good regardless of what Amps and Settings I used, so I came to the conclusion that such a high output Humbucker is not suitable for a Cigar Box Type Build, especially a Resonator or Tin Sign Type Build, and are best suited for Solid Body Builds, which I’ve successfully done before, “My Opinion Only”, and I’m sure a lot of people would have other ideas, and probably disagree with me!SO!, I replaced the Quad Rail with a Cheap Ass Ebay 8.3k Single Coil, and although it’s wired through the original 500k Humbucker Vol & Tone Pots, it now sounds quite OK! :-)
