AGP #479 - ''Frank'n'Stein''

AGP #479 – “Frank‘n’Stein”3 String Fretless GuitarStrings: .044NW .030NW .020NWTuning: G D gThis Build was done for 2 reasons, one to experiment with the combining of two pickups, to create one high output Humbucker type setup, and two to use some of the sheet of 1200x600x7mm Red Oak (outer layers & Poplar inner layers) Plywood, I purchased 11 months ago, which make up the Top and Bottom Soundboards. The Box Frame and Headstock wings are Cypress Pine, and the Neck is Merbau, all Timber was given 3 coats of Dewaxed Blonde Shellac, unfortunately the Pics I took, don’t really show up the real beauty of the Red Oak Ply & the Cypress Pine.A 9.4k Single Coil Alnico Pickup, and a 15.4k Double Coil Humbucker were joined together to form (I guess??) is one 20k High Output Humbucker, hence the “Beast”ly name. :-)

  • "Thanks BQ", was in two minds as to what Pot's to use, normally for Humbuckers I go with 500k Pots, but have used the Gitty Type Combo of 250k Vol & 500k Tone on a few builds, which all sound fine, this particular build was given the OK buy my missus, who said it sounded good, a rare event, so I think I'll leave it as it is! ;-D

  • That’s a kool build!!, I would change that 250k pot, if you have a high output and/or humbucker pickup in the loop a 500k pot will give you better response? Cheers :)
