AGP #357 - ''Qld Trailer Trash''

AGP #357-“Qld Trailer Trash”-Scale:584.2mm/23”(3 String Relic Licence Plate Guitar)Strings:.048.NW/.032NW/.022NW/-Tuning:G D gThe Licence Plate is a 250mm/10” x 100mm/4” Steel, Queensland Small Box Trailer Registration Plate, The Body sides are Treated Pine, the Back is 4mm Hardwood Ply and the Neck is an unknown Hardwood, as the Pics show the first Pickup installed was a 5.4k 4 Pole Bass Type firmly in contact with the underside of the Plate, which squealed and squawked like a Banshee, replaced by a 35mm Piezo Disc, which does what Piezo’s do, picks every bump and nuance you don’t want in a build, better than the first Pup, but I think a small Flat Wound Magnetic Pup will soon be added. :-)

  • "Thanks Chris", have a very nice looking Nebraska Plate on the bench at the moment. :-)

  • "Thanks Wal", When building LPG's, I always try and save the integrity of the plate, by avoiding cutting into it, or covering the numbers etc., as much as I can!   :-)

  • "Thanks Bob", recycled trash is one of my favourite source's of CBG building materials  :-)

  • Now that IS interesting... i’ve built a few LPGs, but have always mounted the plate ON a box of tonewood. Never thought of placing it IN a more ‘regular’ box. And I agree re piezos in LPGs- far better to sacrifice a digit and mount a proper pup (zeroes and eights are great for humbuckers!).

So many great ideas, so little time...

  • It looks great AGP! Useful info too. I need to get me a licence plate and find me a trailer full of trash!
