Or soft Hardwood?, (I think aged Pine)and the box bottom is ⅝” from a treated leftover Pine fence Paling, which I added. The Neck is recycled unknown Hardwood from a neighbours Reno’, it was painted with Iron Oxide (a Vinegar and Steel Wool solution) and then liberally coated with a 50\50 Linseed Oil & Turps mix, and the Crate is as purchased and left untreated, the Nut is a bit of cut down Brass Piano Hinge and the Bridge is same timber as Neck, an 11.6k Open Humbucker with Vol and Tone, and an Under Saddle Piezo Rod Pickup with Vol is wired through a 3 Way Switch to the Jack.

"Thanks Dave Lynas", Yes!, when we were younger these type of crates were common, free and often used as firewood, all these years on, they're now vintage collectors items, I think this one cost abt $20.
I love working with produce crates. When a child that was the free wood around. I made armor, swords, shields, cars, push mobiles, rubber guns, cages, and a banjo out of this wood. My first two box guitars are crate wood. Good on you AGP.
