This was one of those projects that started off as one type of build and finished up as something different!!Originally built as a 3 string Baritone Guitar (755.65mm / 29¾inches), joining the box at the 12th fret, with a 7 pole Washburn Ebay pickup installed in the neck position under the “Dads Workshop” tin sign (a Xmas gift), apart from the fact that I didn’t like playing it with only 12 frets on the fret board, it screamed like a ‘Banshee’, and sounded terrible, might have had something to do with the pickup, which reads 18.77k on my Digital Multimeter ???.

"Thanks" the anonymous pick, the sign is steel, tried both ways, touching and separated, didn't make a lot of difference, the plywood top (Tooty Dog) conversion is touching and sounds fine !!
is the pup touching the lid ? if so . separate it a bit so it does not touch . my guess is there is metal in the sign and you are picking up both the strings and the sign in the mag feild . and acting as a piezo also . all 3 may sound like pulling a cat through a key hole ;-)
