  • Hi there Richard and Russell.

Thanks for the comments. To get the finish most wood needs several coats of sanding sealer, but this is parana pine and doesn't need very much. Once it is hard cut it down with steel wool and oil (Tung or Danish). If you want it very shiny finish with Tru oil, but on this one I wanted a softer shine so used Danish oil. Hope that helps and thanks again.

    All the best.

  • How did you finish the neck John?  Looks fantastic!

  • bad to the bone   RK !!!!  U build some exciting instruments

  • Hi Michael.

The head is angles back more than it looks from the photo. It is about 18º. The ones I am doing now are much less at between 12 and 13º.

    All the best.

  • What is the angle of that cut, 10?

  • Hi Fernando.

Yes. Nothing like normal pine. Parana pine is much harder and with a really close grain. Not quite as rigid as mahogany, but easily good enough, particularly with a fretboard. I think it does come from Brazil, although the wood that I have came from a bookcase owned by a friend living in London ;^)

  • Hi Bob.

Thank you very much. I really appreciate the compliment.

    All the best.
