  • I am in north Florida and alot of the people here find them at farmers markets.

  • Nice work Rick, I also have done a fair amount of artwork on gourds with a burner. (Although not lately) There was a woman known as "The Gourd Lady" that grew acres and acres of gourds about an hour or so North of Terra Haute, IN just for carvers/burners/artists. You could find any size or shape imaginable on her farm. I live in FL now and never get up that way anymore but I would love to get a gourd from her to build a Gourd Ukulele sometime. Maybe I can find another source down here.
    Best Regards
  • Thanks John, I know a lot of people here who are trying to start burning and spending high dollar for a commercial burner. I prefer to use my lower cost burner and let the wood burn the way it wants to some times light sometimes dark to me it makes a great effect and I am not forcing the color on the wood. I will have to find pics of other stuff I have done and post them to. This is more or less a hobby a De-stresser for me. I sit back turn on the TV and put heat to whatever I can burn.

  • Nice work Rick ....!!!! You dont need expensive equipment to make nice art mate.

  • yes sir it is a gourd, gourds are not easy to burn at all lol and this was done with a 30 dollar burner from a craft store it took about 2 hrs to complete.
