Have to work this one out. Didnt see it until I was finishing it. Must have been a small check from the router and I filled it with wood dust and glue. Only problem is tung oil turned it orange. It is right even with the 12th frets and Im out of ideas other than epoxy and ballast fill. Its not very deep but would be noticeable if sanded out.

  • I just noticed it's at the 12th ... tell everyone it's an octave marker!
  • Yeah, the glue dried that color, I assume?
Thats why I thought titebond 2, it does.
Thats also why I NOW use Titebond original ( red label).

  • Gorilla wood glue. Sets up faster than Titebond 2, after 20 minutes clamped it can be lightly worked, drilled and sanded. Still needs 24 hours for full cure. Doesnt expand or need water.
  • BTW- what glue do you use. Titebond 2?
  • IMHO- If it's filled in and smoothed over. I would leave it. It adds character.
Now if yer gonna try to sell it, they MAY be another matter. The first mando I sold didn't even have a full set of matching tuners, but they thought they fit the idea very well.
