Oops.

Biggest mistake on CBG #2 (so far). I practiced with this bit on some scrap...but the scrap was a lot softer than the red oak I'm using for the neck. When I got to the neck it was harder and a longer cut so the bit heated up and started to sink in. Should have gotten a nicer bit with a bearing...but figured I'd go with the old bit that was with the old router. Most of it sanded out but there will be some evidence of my error in the final git.

  • I have a funny story slightly similar to this. I have a Purple heart wood project I got most of the way finished this one particular day after it sitting for a while. And long story short, this Tyrannosaurus Rex (A 1/2 inch router bit that had shot its bearings during this final cut, species Tyrannosaurus Rex) comes up and tries to attack me. Lucky for me Purple Heart is extremely hard and the T-Rex only took a chomp somewhat similar to that, only slightly deeper.
