#23 lap steel, Mother and Child

  • No Bill, i got the body as you see it. I find some folks take apart their old instruments and part out the gear. These pups go as high as the entire instrument on ebay. You have to spend $150 for one in decent shape. I tried for one that was all rust and dust and looked melted. It went for just over $100. It's sad to see this happen, but when the dollars stack up it's a bigger pile as parts. Lucky, however, that the carcass body came to me for $27. I'll have fun filling it out with gear of my own making after i've had my way with her as my model for #23. I've got a nice Gretsch pup for her and a great cast aluminum lap steel hard tail bridge that fits the screw holes for her perfect. I've got a complete Silvertone lap steel to compare my efforts with as well.

  • looks nice next to the original, poplar is a great wood, did you get to take apart the pup and take some pics of it
