My first cigar box project. Acid cigar box with a basic amp circuit from guitar fuel. Haven't even had the chance to test it yet since I don't have an acoustic pickup.

  • Guitar Fuel is a company that sells amp circuits, complete kits, and a bunch of other electronics for home-built instruments. Look 'em up on the interwebs. As i said before, I have used there amp kits to build three amps (two 3 watt units, one 5 watt unit), and I have another 5 watt kit ready for another build. You can everything from a bag of parts that you solder together up to "everything you need except the box" kits that are already soldered. Look 'em up, and see if you like what they have. The MAH-3 and MAH-5 kits are the ones I use. They have multiple settings that you can change with a knob mounted outside the box, as well as headphone jacks, 120V adapter port, and even an MP3 player socket to plug in yer music box. These are 9V battery powered kits, so very portable. I used a Gitty kit for my first build, and it was also good, just not as versatile as far as tone circuitry and adjustability. Hope this helps.

  • Someone please enlighten me on this Fuel circuit. I'm currently employing LM386 to supply my amp builds
  • Nice first project, Bryan. I've made three amps using guitar fuel amp circuits, and I have enjoyed building them and using them. Hope you will enjoy yours. Now, you can make a cigar box guitar and you can play it through your amp! I assume that you are going to put a protective cover of some sort over your speaker. Speakers are definitely not poke-proof.
