Yup, notched it, still need to seal the slight spaces with some wood putty and finish it, that will be the last thing I do before I string it up and test drive it.
The photos don't really do the brass filigree on the flat black circles justice, from a few feet away they look just like there floating in the black background, it's a wild effect that I wasn't really expecting but I'll take it. (:>}
