It was a standard photocopy thickness and yes would need a lot more of your type of finish and finesse for it to become invisable at the edges. Thanks for the tip on the decals, will see if I can get them here in Aust or a similar type as that definately would be a lot better finish than my way of doing it.
PS any tips on how to intone the thing as I am having the odd problem with it in standard tuning. The neck slot i cut (using your plans as a guied) fits great and neck is true but it is giving me a few issues.

Thanks guys. Fernando, Paul has the right idea, i just got a transparency, and a font, ran it through the computer and printed it out on a photo copier in reverse, then used clear photomount spray glue, slapped it on, then laquared it with 3 coats to seal the job.
Does look nice. I don't know how Rev. Brown did it but I'd get some decal paper, run it through my computer printer than stick it on and put a finish over it. Works in pen making.
