Old drink can from the 50's, I put a microphone element from an old reel to reel tape recorder mic that "didn't work any more". Sounds neat but I want to do a bigger can with the next one. I also need to drill a few more holes in the top drain grate.

this was very easy... i was actually looking at the mic elements from the radio shack. I think they require a battery but I'm not sure, that could complicate things but not by too much (I think you'd just put it on the hot wire?). With this I just soldered the wire to the mic element and the jack. Put hot glue on the mic, used a drum stick to push it down, let it dry and stuck the jack in the hole i drilled.
I first pulled a mic element from a telephone but I couldn't get it to work, it could be why the phone was getting trashed.
