Picked this up at a garage sale in Craig, Nebraska recently and I'm happy to say that when I hooked into it, it tested out perfect! Not sure what amp I will sink into it yet but I did a little research and it is a 25 watt speaker so I'll go accordingly. It is a TONE MONSTER, I was like a kid at X-Mas when I saw it :-) I am going to use the old cabinet for the build, it screams 1961. I am leaning towards a small Marshall amp for the build.

Also very cool about ACE working on your shoreline. We vaca were the ACE put in jetties after WWII, amazing how they have stood up & helped the shore line over the years.
Hey MD, here is pic of 12v Buskin' Amp I built from an old wine crate. 20w car amp & a pocket pod make for a nice combo. I can also use it as a column, my favorite go to practice amp is a hacked tube radio I plug into.

I can imagine it would pose a issue for either driver or your 2.5w chip amp as long as the amp is compatible with the Ohm range of the driver. I would assume that it's an "8" Ohm driver but could be 16 Ohm. Those ratings are just approximations and the only way to really tell would be to run a frequency response plot and see whats happening across the board with Ohm dips. Most "8" Ohm drivers won't have these amp taxing dips. Sometimes these Ohm dips in the frequency range may be tough on some solid state amps but a most tubers will take it in stride and not even flinch. Still, I'd think that if you throw a meter on it you get a DCR reading of around 5-7 Ohm which would be about right for what you would see with any driver rated at 8 Ohm. If you got readings around 11-13 or around that it would be a considered a "16" Ohm driver. No problem there either really although output would be lessened. If you got a DCR reading of around 3 Ohm or thereabouts, I'd maybe not roll the dice with the Artec.
Given that the amp is stable and not throwing out DC, it's a old wives tale that under powering and over driving that kills speakers. It's overpowering with watts beyond the drivers rating that kills voice coils. That said, you could hook it up to a 1000 watt PA amp and not do any damage if you kept the volume down and output under the drivers potential "damage by melt down" rating ;)
Depending on efficiency/sensitivity, a 2.5w chip amp would get her up and dancing just fine think but as Oily is suggesting, something like a 10 watter may be a fine match. I don't know if that's a ribbed or smooth cone, but a amp closer to it's power handling rating may provide you with a little more horsepower to drive to breakup levels for that down and dirty bluesy deal.
I may even go with a 9 volt system, do you think that 2.5 watts would be enough? I tested the Jensen on my 2.5 watt Artec tester amp I built to see if it worked and it sounded amazing. Then I tapped my Microcube into it and it checked out fine.
