Nice buy !
There's a meile shaker that fits a bass pedal
That's fIng loud s about as near as I got
But went backto my £5 high hat in the end
With a lock out able jingle ring
Indeed they are Bug-I saw one on ebay go for over £230 ($370), so I kept looking on ebay worldwide-but the thing I did was include misspellings in my search-they are called low boys, sometimes sock pedals,lo hat,low hat..made by Leedy or Whalberg in the '30's-I searched em all and eventually one came up in the States-he spelt it wrong (cant remember what now) so no one else found it! I was the only bidder and got it for £20($30)-TOUCH! I swapped out the hi hat cymbals for a tambourine but have since found a smaller tambourine so its all nice and small.its one less thing to stand in the way of you and the audiences' view-which of course is what a regular hi hat does, plus less to pack.
Thanks for the great tips. I will give the suitcase drum another go but what you said makes a lot of sence. Also, living in China stuff like musical equiptment is both cheap and relatively easy to come by. That being said quaility varies wildly from just o.k. to jesus wept this sounds like crap. Them's the breaks I guess.
I was stoked to find it and win it at a silly price-the one before went for £200-this one was mispelt so no-one spotted it-sure was a result! They dont come up too often as you might imagine.

So might just make one
Farmer Foot drums make a wooden low boy-might be worth a look.
