This is a redo from the all grommet face this CBG had. I think it looks better.

  • yep jim i know exactly what you mean.
  • Hey BC - this one is started out as a variation on some of the Cake-pan resos that I have been making. I found some 4" cake pans and on this build I thinned the bottom of the pan and mounted it upside down ( like you would a resonator cone made a biscuit and moved on) The problem was the cake pan was still too thick to vibrate effectively. My next thought was to drill holes in the cake pan and see if that would allow more movement. Still not enough somewhere in the mix I discovered that if I just put a bridge on the top it sounded nice so I made a new bridge and set it up as an acoustic. I liked it but then I thought why not mount the cake pan back in it only more as a reflector of sound. Which is what I did oh and then I added a piezo just so that I could play around on an amp if I wanted to. So then I switched to light gauge strings, tuned it to D, A, D and called it done. Probably way more than you really wanted to know, but hey somewhere down the road it may save you a step or two. I am very glad that I can build these things because I really do enjoy how they all have their own voice, I don't think I would be happy with just one or two..... Know what I mean?
