Usually people use bronze for acoustic and nickel for electric. Although, on banjo and resonator guitar, I prefer nickel. In regards to your question, how many strings on your CBG? How do you want to tune? Thank you for your question.
If you are using a standard scale length about 24" - 25" nut to bridge, standard strings have some tuning range. For example: I like to tune my 3 string to GDg. So, I use medium gauge strings ADg. Experimenting is usually the key, to get the proper string tension and preferred tuning so you CBG rings sounding it's best. Fretless seems to play better with a little more slack in the strings.
Thank you for your comments. Please feel free to write if i can be of any further help. You know me, I love to talk about this stuff. Happy Holidays. Enjoy.
