I see no reason you couldn't just leave the hubcaps and cut the guitar straight in to the hood. There's a handy air dam that would work well as a bridge ;)
... oh hell ! ... thanks for the great idea, but now, my neighbor may be missing all 4 hubcaps from off of his mint condition 1959 Studebaker Silver Hawk :-)
