  • Ah, the tee brace makes since tto.
  • It all made good sense except the tee brace part at the end. This one is going to start out life with the neck lined up flush with the top and serving as the fretboard, for the time being. It's designed so I can add a fretboard in the future if I need one. Thanks for the thoughts.
  • Oh and one more thing I recently learned is to try to get the fret board above the soundboard face. I flushed my first several and it makes it tight to play. Next few will be a quarter inch up higher. Planning to do a lamination myself. Plus one other note I added a glued on tee brace below my cutout to reinforce the shallow part (hope this makes sense)
  • I cut my necks clear of the lid except for a glue ledge on either end. I also try to get my bridge about a quarter of the way up the soundboard. Not an expert but the ones I have built have good sound and are strong too. I strip the paper of the inside of the lid - if its not plywood but pressboard I would use a different box. Thin plywood tops make good soundboards in my opinion. Hope this helps (still learning myself)
  • So, do I want the bridge to be supported by the lid which is resting on the longer "shelf", or do I want to cut the "shelf" farther back, similar to the front, so that the bridge rests on the lid which is then no longer being supported by the neck?
