    It is called lacewood, I'm not sure why though. I talked with someone who said that normally lacewood is wavy, so this is a little different (probably has to do with the angle of the cut). I use Gun Stock Oil (True Oil) for the finish. I like it because it gives a hard finish and you can put a coat on every two hours. I have 10 coats on the box, and 9 coats on the neck.
