The headstock wasn't meant to go in that narrow. I was trying to cut straight : -/ I think it looks ok but just hoping it'll be strong enough!!

Hi , bemuzic ! When the machine heads are on the "wrong" way the tension put on by the strings pulls the gearing apart from each other , rather than into each other, and you can strip a gear while tuneing . Worth the time to correct before doing damage to your machine head . Hope that makes sense ! Love your tunes !!!
The only thing that will happen if you put them on "backwards", someone will comment every time you post a picture: OMG! the tuner is on backwards.
In order to counter this I suggest saying "I have done an experiment, where I have purposely put the tuner on backwards to see how it affects the tone. After doing this I have concluded, the tone is better with the tuner on backwards."
When you use the magic phrase " the tone is better this way" people will accecpt that it is true, backwards becomes the new forward and, all is well with the world.
have just looked at my other CBG's and I see what you mean...all the one's made by people who know what they're doing have the cog bit at the bottom...will remember that for the future, thanks!!
thanks for the advice re the tuner...do you mean the tuners's the wrong way round? or the way I've wound the string? No vid yet...soooon : -) Will check out your pics

Turns out I've always put my machine heads on the wrong way round too, on every single build. Damn!
