I took an existing Slide that I liked the size of and marked the bone and cut it with a hack saw. Then I just started sanding it on a table sander until I got it down to size. I then took a small round (rubber) sanding tip and sanded the inside just long enough to get any ruff spots out. I then put that a slighty bigger round sanding tip into the bone until it held snugg and put the shaft into a drill and spun the bone while appling sand paper to smooth it out. I finished it by taking some guitar wax and putting it on a rag and held it against the spinning bone -- went back and forth between the waxed rag and a dry one until the surface was smooth and shinny. I'm not sure if this was the best way to build one, but it worked. It's like anything, the more you do it the more you figure out better ways of doing it again the next time.
