River Cypress "wood porn"

  • I most definitely have arch top guitars & mandolins in my near future.

  • Good score!

Since you don't plan any slab bodies what about hollow body archtop?

Keep an eye out for Hemlock, great for siding and weathers beautifully.

  • We're in the process of building a Tennessee farmhouse. We hope to use reclaimed cypress instead of Western Cedar--stained, not painted--as siding. The price is right if you live in the southeastern U.S. Don't let 'em mulch that beautiful stuff!

  • I haven't planned on any solid body electrics. I use this wood to make my stick dulcimers, cigar box guitar necks, and my acoustic guitars, mandolins & ukuleles. There are far too many slab guitars out there already.

  • Nice  I have the same sawmill.  Assume you will make some solid body electrics??

  • Yup, GS.  You don't need a truss rod with a neck that big.   Very pretty grain.

  • WOW! That's gonna be a BIG neck!  :-o
