Vince, Are you still working at building a cigar box guitar? I have built a few instruments and would be glad to help out. You are welcome to come check out my instruments. I live in Medical Lake, just west of Spokane. Doug
Vince. I saw your unanswered question in chat. I am a 3 string guy myself.
Good gauges for me 46,36,18 or close too 48,32,16 yaknow. I started with those guages because I learned from someone on here(Probably Shane Speal or Ted Crocker) that 46/36/26 was a good 3 string gauge to go with. I just moved over to a heavy bottom non wound by choice and liked it. I have a really big box of strings I use. It was a box I aquired from an old music store that went outta business. So I have tried lotts of variations over the past couple years. If youre looking for a darker sound go with all wound 56,46,26 or close too. I hope this helps ya.
Welcome aboard, Vince! You will find lots of helpful folks and information here on all things CBG (CBB, CBU, etc.) Feel free to poke around, ask questions, and post your stuff (photos, recordings, videos, etc.).
