No man the banjo string tension is relatively low and even though i tapered the neck it was left pretty thick. I can't be sure that it will never bow but i finished it in july and so far so good. Plus pine is so much easier to work with i may try it again in the future with some kind of truss rod.
Your first instrument is far more impressive than my first attempt. You are off to a great start. Have fun trying new things! I'll be glad to answer any questions you have. No one has it all figured out yet, and I have certainly made my share of mistakes, but it's sure fun learning! Cigar Box Nation is a great place to hang out.
Welcome aboard, Chris! You will find lots of helpful folks and information here on all things CBG (CBU, CBB, etc.) Feel free to poke around, ask questions, and post your stuff (photos, recordings, videos, etc.).
