Hello,
I have started a CBN group entitled, "How to Play CBG" It is my hope and intention to encourage the "Wealth of Talent" here on the Nation to share their knowledge and skill to further the CBG movement. Please consider contributing an instructional "video" link to this group. If you are a viewer seeking instruction, please feel free to write. If you have any suggestions or know other players who you think may want to post instructional "video" links, please contact me. Thank you for your interest and support, Keni Lee
Hey Willy you asked me about how i became involved in the cbg thing. My brother in law had a job refinishing the interior of an Airstream trailer for an eccentric client. My b-i-l is a very good guitarist and plays from bluegrass to jazz. Anyway, the client gave him a Daddy Mojo 4 string to thank him for the good work. I thought it was great and looked up Daddy Mojo and then cbg's and came upon a lot of info. This was pre cigar box nation. I used the plans that are now on the site to build my first cbg. I had pics up in my page but took them down as i ended up going back and refining the builds. I ended up with a very playable 4 string slide. Next was a diddly bow a la One String Willie. I then tried a cookie tin cbg and that turned out pretty funky too. Both have single piezo's - the cookie tin is a hell of a lot louder than the cbg but lacks some of the sustain and tonal range. Just finished building a three string cuz i thought i'd try to pare it down. It has two piezo's but that doesnt seem to make much difference. I'm currently working on another 4 string and this one will have a single coil pickup, tone and volume. I have been trying to do something different each build and the learning curve continues. This one will be fretted. I had problems sourcing things initially as most of the info on site is USA specific. So the local music stores were my initial sources. I have found a great source for piezo's and guitar parts. Check the Best Deals forum and you'll find my comments there. Let me know how the dulci-g is coming along.
