The pickup is adjustable height, screwed into the aluminum plate. It's a mini humbucker. We ran it through a little Fender Studio Valve, an amp that is near impossible to find, as it was made in the middle ninties and only for the Japanese Market. I believe it was one of the first hybrid amps and has a 12AX7 tube running the Gain channel. It is small and has two 6 inch celestion speakers. I got it from a sailor who was stationed in Japan. I loved it so much, it is my primary amp for lap steel guitar, that I looked for four years and finally found another one just like it. I bought it on Ebay immediately. I may have the only two amps in the USA
I am a tube amp restorer and collector, and for pure gain tone, this one beats them all.
Cheers
Thanks so much and welcome to CBN. best, friendliest site on the internet. Bar none. In regards to your question about my Cbox that my friend Rick played, the pickup is an $18.00 no name pickup ( I've since bought three more after hearing it!) bought on Ebay from a seller called bezdez. They make great, cheap products that are perfect for builds like these. Also, the pickup is set into an old aluminum pot rest I found in my mother's old kitchen ware. Underneath is a sauce pot top for a resonator. Does the trick doesn't it?
