Hello all.What is the thickest material you all have ever seen/used for a custom box. I understand thinner is better sounding (to a point. You don't want a veneer box...:) ), and thinner is obviously lighter. But would, say, a 1/2" thick box work?

Read more…So, I inherited several card tables. I seriously have like 6 of them.I was thinking, could they be durable enough - with plywood and board reinforcements on the top- that I could turn one into a router table? What do you all think?

Saw your query about material thickness for DIY box , suggest 1/8" for top back and sides
Hey Shawn,
That is actually just two pieces of wood. The neck board in the middle and a slotted wider piece underneath so we could carve out any shape we wanted. But the glue works great with tension. We just started using scarf joints for the head angles and again no problem with tension at all.
I say go for it!
