I went out and got a feeler gauge at the hardware store. I found a gauge leaf I liked and taped it to the fingerboard. Then I used a thin-blade saw to cut the notches down to the gauge and files to make a correct-sized slot.
Hey Mike! Still looking for help setting string height?
First, tell us something about how you plan to play. A slide guitar player wants higher action than a finger-picker. Good rule of thumb: leave a dime between the strings and first fret, a nickle between strings and 12th fret.
Welcome aboard, Mike! You will find lots of helpful folks and information here on all things CBG (CBB, CBU, etc.) Feel free to poke around, ask questions, and post your stuff (photos, recordings, videos, etc.).
