well, hmm, how about this for a quick fix on that one since it's a nice box......maybe drill holes in that 'back block' as close to the cigar box top as possible and feed the strings through the holes --- Instant string retainer and better break angle! Just for yuks, maybe take a look at my build on my page...I made a kinda cool string retainer at the headstock that really gave sharper break angle and good contact of string to nut. I was thinking I might do TWO retainers on the next build --- one at the headstock and another behind the bridge...

hey man, looking fine. I like the grommet (?) you used around the jack mount too on the Punch box. On the Oliva box, I see you have a 'second' bridge behind the main saddle -- I think you'd want to not have that, so the break angle over the saddle is sharper for better tone and transfer. As is, the string looks like it hits the bridge saddle at nearly the same height as the nut...not much downward tension and less solid vibration transfer...maybe do the opposite with that and make it a 'string retainer' instead --- just a thought. and I know what you mean about the addictiveness...I've got several designed just waiting to be built.
