  • I first learned of the concept of home made diddley bows/guitars etc through watching Seasick Steve on Later With Jools Holland some years ago and later in 2015 when i stumbled upon various sites including this one .The blues has always manifested itself in my life over the years in one way or another in the form of health issues/unemployment etc and the old adage about 'livin' the blues is no less true than it was in say,the 1930's.I attempted to build my first diddley bow with a cylindrical wooden box,a pine rail from an old bed headrest and some galvanised wire but various things failed. This made me research things more thoroughly online.I think I prefer to make improvements on the three instruments I have rather than keep building more and more.I have made one amplifier also to attempt to create distortion.I have been a fan of the blues for over 20 years but also like folk/rock and even some country.I can also play a bit of harmonica but not much blues.I have sourced materials from bargain/charity shops and whatever is lying around. The best challenge is trying to learn ANY tune on these instruments.
