In most videos the piezo disc is sandwiched between the soundboard and the neck running through the box with help of hot glue. This means it is sandwiched between something stable (the neck) and something vibrating (the soundboard).
This is a bit offtopic from CBG. I got a super cheap (70€) acoustic guitar with great intonation. I am trying to see how much I can improve it. So far I have made bone nut and bridge, adjusted the height of the strings, adjusted the truss rod and cha
Out of curiosity, has anyone ever tried attaching the neck at a corner instead of the middle of a short side? If the neck goes through the box it would go in at one corner and then go out at the diagonally opposite corner.
While experimenting with my guitar I could not find a plectrum, so I grabbed whatever I could find at that moment and it was a knitter's stitch marker as in this picture:
I grabbed the stitch marker by the more narrow end (where it can open) and use
If you build a CBG without a tailpiece and with the strings attached to the saddle, how do you get the intonation right? I mean, without a tailpiece you can not move the bridge around until the intonation is good and you can not just put the bridge s
The CBG I am going to build will mainly be played acoustically without any amp. It might even be that I will never ever use any amp at all. Still I am considering to add a pickup just in case I would end up playing somewhere were the acoustic sound i
All "normal" guitars have the strings attached at the saddle, right behind the bridge while most CBG seems to have a similar attachment as the violin (where the attachment point is behind the soundboard as a normal saddle attachment would rip off the
While planning to build a CBG I am reading a lot of theory and I came across a MIT paper about sound hole shapes (https://news.mit.edu/2015/violin-acoustic-power-0210). The paper is for violins, but I think the same principles stand for a guitar. App
I am trying to find any video where someone has taken the 3 lowest strings (E, A and D) from a full set and then put them on an acoustic cigar box guitar and tuned them to DAD or EBE. I would want to know what they would sound like. Do you know about
