  • Hi Casey,
I will try and get a couple more pictures for the 3 string fretless. I can tell you a couple things about it.
It has a 3/16 slot routed into the neck under the fret board. I installed a 10-24 all thread as a small truss rod. You can see the nut in the photo. The all thread is inside a bendie straw and I used clear silicone to glue it in place. The straw keeps it capable of movement. The silicone just fills in the spaces around the rod.
I used stainless to make the tailpiece. A single screw in the bottom holds the neck in the box as well as holding the tail piece in place. It stays in tune well ,it does a nice job. Another similar screw holds the thru neck to the front of the box. The neck doesn't duck under the box lid. It's a tru thru design. I made a piezo transducer that has a jack at the bottom. I prefer it on the side. With the jack on the bottom it tends to over bend the cable when sitting in the corner. But it looks cool. Sounds good also. That bridge was a crocker design. Thanks Ted.
The wood is poplar. The box was macanudo Gold Label. It had a paper lid that was shabby. I made a poplar top to match the neck. I used polyurithane on the box. I tried to seal the paper with it. I think I used Formbys Tung oil on the neck and top. I hope I revealed a few details that give you some ideas for your own.
Thanks again for the interest and kind words. Chuck
